As a search engine marketer, one of the recurring sources of trouble and difficult situations I should deal with is the idea of organic search engine optimization in Korea. I’ve been recommending and using SEO strategic for years as an effective tool for getting high traffic and conversion in Korea. Because it is obviously most smart spending of online marketing and above all things, I believe SEO is the most truthful way of search result. - imagine, what if organic search result is ranked by money, not by web sites’ relevancy and quality? Google will immediately lose its credibility and reputation. In other word, people usually have a right understanding of SEO.

But for Korean web users, ‘organic search engine result’ is not an easy concept to understand. Many Korean web users have limitations in their knowledge because they have only been searching one, or a limited number of, search engine sites which are Naver and Daum. Naver and Daum show long integrated search result page containing PPC, organic search result, blog, community (Café), video, news, shopping, image and more. It means importance of organic search engine result can be easily underestimated. Korean web users don’t need to know about how it works and why it is important. Organic search result doesn’t even appear in higher place.

Fortunately, Daum shows organic Google search result in much more portion and try to follow worldwide standard. And also Naver has started to show organic result. But there is a still far way to go.

In this case, what should you do to manage Korea SEO and Korea SEM? I’d like to recommend you to focus on Korea SEOs in diverse ways.

Make full use of social network sites. There are lots of platforms you can use in Naver and Daum such as blog, café and ‘knowledge in’. These verticals often appear in high position in search result page. Web users more likely believe the contents rather than advertisement copy. Also it is good way to make positive relationship with your customers.

Use PPC in some degree. PPC always takes the highest place in search result page. But I don’t recommend you to spend all your money for it, because of its low efficiency – when there is keen competition of certain keyword, the cost per click is ridiculously high.

Last but not least, don’t be obsessed by organic search ranking. Build up Korea SEO friendly site, not just for search engine ranking but for conversion. It will lead successful search engine optimization and marketing.

To sum up, comprehensive marketing approach which you keep in mind the fundamental reason of web promotion – ROI - will lead successful search engine optimization and marketing in Korea.
